Mexican Expeditionary Force

The 201st Mexican Squadron, also known as the Mexican Expeditionary Force, operated as a unit of the 5th Air Force’s 58th Fighter Group.  The unit maintained about 12 operational P-47 D aircraft obtained from local U.S. stocks.  The primary mission of the squadron was support of allied ground forces.  53 Missions were flown in support of the Philippine Campaign between 4 June and 4 July 1945.[1]  The unit was on the troop list for the planned Olympic invasion.[2]
